Thank you for exposing the Christians’ misstating of sources by citing an article that clearly
illustrates the biased and false claim of widespread persecution that most Christians refuse to acknowledge. Absent
from this article and other sources cited therein is the pervasiveness of this ridiculous claim — no matter the
country Christians occupy.
The Christian ability to warp their minds into believing they are the victims is beyond ridiculous. Even when presented with facts, Christians persist in their claims of widespread persecution, such as Galvinmike, who commented:
Jews and Buddhists do not discrimate against Christians. However, are you seriously claiming to be unaware of the tremendous oppression of Christians, other then those who belong to the tame state run churches, in China? Do you not know that being a Coptic Christian in Egypt, where they have lived for 2000 years or so, or frankly any Christian anywhere in the Muslim dominated nations of the world (Nigeria being another particularly egregious example) is very difficult and often literally life threatening? If so I’m nominating you for a lifetime achievement Oscar for cluelessness.
His exaggeration reveals in your cited article as a pervasive Christian misrepresentation of facts,
Even one of my favorite students, an evangelical Christian himself, was quick to ask me this fall, “But aren’t Christians the most persecuted religion in the world?” confidently citing the Pew Forum report as evidence. But this is not what the Pew study concluded, despite misguided interpretations of their data.
The author goes on to say, “the report deliberately avoids the term, persecution” because the study in question does not measure which group faces the most persecution. To further show the misrepresentation of Christians, the original commentthat began this discussion was yet another Non sequitur opinion made by a “cultural Christian” who either did not read or missed the part where I said,
Never has a religion promoted the persecution complex amongst adherents so profoundly: an absurdity revealed in Christianity’s domination of the US. How Christians in the US believe this fantasy is a glaring indicator that Christianity inflicts neurosis or stupidity.
Still, globally extending my original argument does not matter since it does not prove Christians endure the worst or most persecution. I dare say if large numbers of Christians experienced life-threatening oppression, more than any other minority religious groups outside the US — American Christians would clamor for war!
Providing they were white Christians.
What should disturb everyone more than Christians misrepresenting facts and ignoring evidence is their desire to play the role of the victim. Of all the archetypes the Christian adopts, the victim is the oddest for being counter to the savior role. You can trace the faux victimology back to the crucifixion of Christ, but this only explains, in part, the need to play the victim. What is less obvious and more troubling is this belief’s pathological nature.
Martha Stout discusses in The Sociopath Next Door a discussion with a sociopathic client who relates to her the role of victim,
I asked, “What is important to you in your life? What do you want more than anything else?” I thought he might say “getting money,” or “staying out of jail,” which were the activities to which he devoted most of his time. Instead, without a moment’s hesitation, he replied, “Oh, that’s easy. What I like better than anything else is when people feel sorry for me. The thing I really want more than anything else out of life is people’s pity.”
Stout explains his desire as “good people will let pathetic individuals get by with murder, so to speak.” Christians play this same game, claiming themselves victims of persecution and oppression, despite running one of the most powerful countries in the world. They declare racial minorities, LGBTQ, and “the woke” as the oppressors in conspiracy theories and misinformation. Evidence of this strategy clarifies when Christians purposely misstate facts and outright lie to get their religious agenda pushed through the government, like being able to deny consumer services to LGBTQ, outlawing CRT, and many other policies. All in the name of protecting their religious freedom from oppressive minorities.
Any Christians in the US claiming to be a victim of persecution must be sociopathic.
Thankfully, your comment reflects the growing unwillingness to entertain the nonsensical victimhood portrayed by Christians. Finally, after generations of lies, the persecuted Christian facade begins to crumble.
