Along with many other shitty things.
Christians lied, propagandized, and spent unknown millions to fight a common-sense legal decision giving women autonomy over their bodies, and they won. Make no mistake, the battle to overturn Roe vs. Wade was not some evangelical judicial coup but a direct result of Christianity, less some minor liberal churches lacking any authority. As the zealots fist-pump the air in victory, they should start to think about the many responsibilities they incurred.
Christians are now 100% responsible for increasing teen pregnancy rates.
The people who brought you the Abstinence Only Until Marriage Sex Education, proven useless at stopping teen pregnancy, have now increased teen pregnancy rates by overturning Roe vs. Wade. Any teenage girl who would have chosen abortion rather than the life-altering decision to become a parent will now have no choice in any state that outlaws abortion.
Don’t worry, kid. The Christians promised their love and support.
Christians are now 100% responsible for increasing high school dropout rates among teen girls.
The same people who vied against science with creationism took responsibility for girls’ education futures by increasing high school dropout rates. According to the CDC, “Only about 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by 22 years of age, whereas approximately 90% of women who do not give birth during adolescence graduate from high school.”
Who cares about education when you have the miracle of life that you can’t feed.
Christians are now 100% responsible for increasing negative health & life outcomes for children of teen mothers.
Children of teen mothers now face higher risk of negative life events that could have been eliminated by abortion, and according to the CDC,
The children of teenage mothers are more likely to have lower school achievement and to drop out of high school, have more health problems, be incarcerated at some time during adolescence, give birth as a teenager, and face unemployment as a young adult.
So much for Christian charity helping teen mothers and their children.
Christians are now 100% responsible for increasing healthcare and welfare costs.
Women having unwanted children by default increases healthcare costs already exceeding $5.5 billion annually in direct expense. Combined with infant medical coverage, America pays “between $9 and $12 billion each year,” which will now soar with increased pregnancies.
On Sundays, Christians better dig deep in those wallets for double digit bills to toss in the basket.
Christians are now 100% responsible for increasing women’s mortality rates during pregnancy.
Forcing women to have babies automatically increases the number of annual deaths resulting from complications during childbirth. This number will likely increase since the people most impacted by abortion bans are poor women who cannot afford proper nutrition and healthcare, much less a child.
Hey, don’t sweat it, Christian. You did your part by saving the bag of cells that couldn’t survive without the dead mother.
Christians are now 100% responsible for creating a black market for approved medications that were legal for years.
Much like Prohibition, Christians have now incentivized selling emergency contraceptives and morning-after drugs that were legally obtainable last week. Yet a new chapter to insert in the War on Drugs narrative that has been a total failure, having accomplished nothing but prison overcrowding. It must make you Christians proud, knowing you will send women to prison for making decisions about their bodies.
Christians are now 100% responsible for women receiving untrustworthy, irresponsible healthcare lacking privacy.
When you go to your doctor pregnant, does this get reported? Does the doctor notify the police when she suspects you had an abortion? Privacy formed an integral part of the Roe vs. Wade decision for a good reason but now muddles with confusion even worse than before. Women who trusted their doctors last week cannot trust their doctors this week, with doctors under threat of losing licenses, lawsuits, and criminal action for facilitating abortions.
Leave it to Christians to reinvent witch-hunts and trials!
Christians are now 100% responsible for adding to public resentment toward law enforcement and making police work more difficult.
The police already endure scrutiny for many ethical issues and incompetence in solving crimes. Police struggle under budget constraints to solve the crimes they currently investigate. Where will the money come from to enforce these bans? Christians made these situations worse, especially in underserved communities impacted hardest by abortion bans. These communities already don’t trust the police and now will be the target of Christian morality enforcement.
When cops can’t do their jobs and come under fire for apprehending pregnant women, they can thank the Christians.
Christians are now 100% responsible for taxing an overburdened foster care system.
Some Christians would like you to believe that foster care overflows with the children of drug addicts, and good Christians save them by offering group homes to these crack babies no one cares about. (A service they get paid per child to perform.) Christians are full of shit! Poverty is the number one reason parents must put children into foster care. Because abortion bans increases kids in foster care, the taxpayer cost rises and makes the system less effective.
I bet you Christians can’t wait to get your grubby paws on more foster kids and the government checks that come with them.
Christians are 100% responsible for women forced to incubate unwanted rape babies.
Christians unilaterally decided for all women that the rape baby’s potential life is more important than the rape victim’s. Christians will argue that the rapist is responsible, which is total horseshit since the rapist is not the one forcing the woman to have his baby. This injustice forms a slap in the face to victims who lost their right to make decisions concerning their bodies and healthcare.
Without a doubt, Christians proved themselves appalling and disgusting people.
Christians will claim that women need love and support, but their majority voting has not supported welfare, education, or any other programs to help single mothers. The onus for said outcomes falls 100% on Christians, and we have no reason to believe they will take responsibility.
